About Syd
Sydney “Syd” Elizabeth Khan (she/her) is a multidisciplinary artist of Pakistani/American descent who creates and designs in mediums which come to her intuitively. Sydney’s work is informed and influenced by her connection to her ancestors and connection to the earth. This connection was cultivated and nurtured in a small town on the coast of California. Now based in the PNW, Sydney is currently exploring abstract art, sculpture, adornment and altars, and is specifically focusing on using found and recycled materials. It is a natural part of Sydney’s creative process for her focus to shift and evolve, but primarily her practice centers on liberation, energy, and community.
Sydney’s creativity and values of sustainability, recycling, and community can further be seen in her small business, Etheric Vintage, where she sells vintage clothing in local boutiques. It is integral for Sydney’s mission and values to collaborate and partner with local creatives. For the past ten years, Sydney has participated in local pop-ups and events all along the west coast, she has worked for locally owned small businesses in Washington and California, and has taught jewelry making courses in Oakland, California. Sydney is looking forward to cultivating and nurturing more connections among the creative community in the PNW.
Sydney holds a degree in Child and Family Sciences with a minor in Middle Eastern and Islamic Studies from San Francisco State University. Sydney lives, works, and creates in Washington with her partner and two dogs.
